Two Years Have Flown By Already!

Posted on March 06, 2020 by Jill Fitz Hirschbold | 0 comments

It’s a little over 2 years now that I became the 4th owner of Side Street Studio and there have been many changes during that time. The physical space has been completely renovated with the shelving and display cases moved, the walls painted, a new cash desk and wrapping station built and added, new shelving for the wood art has been installed, a new card wall, a textile wall, a product photo station added to the back room and so on.
What has not changed is our commitment to highlight our incredibly talented pool of local BC Artists, to provide our regular, visiting and online customers with a wide range of beautiful handmade work and to maintain an exceptional level of customer service. We have continued to showcase artists you have come to expect to see in the Studio and we have added almost 100 new artists to bring us to over 200 artists with work currently in the store. We have broadened the range of selection and prices in all of our departments which can be generally classified as Jewelry, Pottery, Glass Art, Wood Working, Fine Art, Photography, Textiles and Natural Body Care Products. We believe that if you are looking for a gift, or a treat for yourself, that we have something for everyone. Also, almost every single item that is delivered to the store is photographed and place on our online store. We have thousands of items on our website and ship worldwide. www.sidestreetstudio.com
We have been focusing on Social Media quite a bit and thank you for the tremendous support of our Facebook and Instagram pages. I will be attending a 3 day Social Media Camp in May with hopes to bring all our efforts into a comprehensive growth plan.
I have also been spending some time once again with my Photography as I integrate this time into my workweek. I have some exciting projects in the works that I will be sharing in the next while.
I have certainly not accomplished all of this on my own. I have an incredible group of woman who work with me in the store and without their commitment, hard work and support this would not have been possible. Kathy Won is not only my store manager; she is one of my closest friends. We met in Elementary school where our youngest children became friends and continue, as we do, to be friends today. We spent years together on the school PAC where our skill sets came together to make a great team. Samantha Stott is not only an associate and our weekend anchor in the Studio but is an extremely accomplished artist and displays her work in the store. Her artist knowledge is expansive as she has worked in many of the media herself. Heather Kevil and Noreen Scarf have been with the store on a part-time basis for a number of years. They are incredible supportive and bring a knowledge of the history of the store that our customers and artists enjoy. Shirley Anne and Valerie Crump have also been a great part of our team during the busier months of the year.
I also have to thank my family, who have all put in time during the busy times and to my husband who brought my renovation ideas to life and built/ installed all the new furniture and displays.
I look forward to the nice weather and getting out on the road to visit more artist studios, attend the markets and take some photos!
