Ray has worked with wood as a hobby all his working life, making pieces of furniture etc. for the home. Since retiring he has
concentrated on wood turning. In the past three years he has won
\"Peoples Choice\" at the Wood Show in Cloverdale and received Best of Show at the last Vancouver Island Woodworkers Guild show at the Maltwood Gallery at the University of Victoria.
Ray has developed a liking for using segments of wood to construct a variety of pieces, where he can show off the grain of the wood and use contrasting colored woods to highlight his designs.
Ray spent his period of National Service with the Regiment of the Coldstream Guards. He latterly worked as a crane operator, and described woodworking was as an excellent means of relaxation.
Ray lives in Sidney on Vancouver Island B.C.
