Hirschbold Woodworking

Hirschbold Woodworking

Markus was raised in Hotzkirchen, a small township, south of Munich Germany in Bavaria. Both his Father and Opa were skilled, professional craftsmen so while growing up he was exposed to and participated in creating beautifully handcrafted furniture, boats and items for general use around the house including kitchen/bread boards.

Markus immigrated to Canada with his family and grandparents in 1985.  It wasn’t long before he attended University and all of his spare time was dedicated to becoming an Engineer.  He continues to enjoy a successful career in that field and has once again found time in his life to be in the workshop.  Over the last 15 years he has been  involved with many different types of projects; from designing Soapbox cars for the Canary Derby in support of BC Cancer research, to building three racing class Optimist Sailboats (2 for his daughters) and creating almost anything else needed for the house…. beds, cabinets, shelves and so on.

With the current travel restrictions he has had the time to create some truly wonderful boards that can be used everyday and/or for entertaining.

Each board is handmade, food safe (Sealed with Clapham’s Beeswax Salad Bowl Finish) and has been signed (branded) with with antlers and a capital "H" for Hirschbold Woodworking. The English translation of Hirschbold  is "Strong Elk".
