TULIP TREE WOOD SALAD BOWL
A magnificent Tulip Tree wooden bowl; ideal for any type of salad. This large bowl has been skillfully hand turned on Vancouver Island from locally grown wood by Phil Cottell. The wood shows beautiful spalting and grain. The side ridges make it easy to hold without slipping.
It measures 12 inches in width by 5 1/2 inches in depth. If treated well this bowl should last a lifetime.
Liriodendron: these trees are widely known by the common name tulip tree or tulip-tree for their large flowers superficially resembling tulips. The Latin Liriodendron actually means "lily tree",. The tulip tree is sometimes referred to as "tulip poplar" or "yellow poplar", and the wood simply as "poplar", although Liriodendron is not closely related to the true poplars, but is more closely related to magnolia trees. The tree is also called canoewood, saddle-leaf tree, and white wood.(Wikipedia)
