Katherine creates sketches from her photography of animals, plants and landscapes to develop her designs and then using her sketches she transfers her drawing to fusible sheet glass using powdered glass, she builds the colour, shading and details up in layers, this usually requires firing the pieces several times. Wall art and ornaments are generally fired two or three times, dishes are fired three to four times, the average finished glass piece is going to spend 40 to 75 hours in the kiln, including cool down time.
Katherine has been working with fused glass since 2006.
