This very fine jewelry box has been hand crafted by skilled box maker, Doug Macdonald of Victoria B.C.
Doug writes; "This is one of my finest jewelry boxes As an overall theme I wanted to pay tribute to the Orca, so magnificent in their West Coast setting. The body of the box consists of bird's eye maple and walnut, two woods that I love to contrast with each other. Redwood burl, walnut burl and other veneers make up the marquetry lid. The locking upper compartment provides dividers which can be removed to re-purpose the box. The finish is a custom blend of mineral and linseed oils with polyurethane varnish, topped with carnauba and bees wax."
The inside of the box base is velvet lined to protect your jewelry. The pull out drawer has 3 compartments and the lift our tray has 9. The hinged lid has a lock on the front.
