GARRY OAK SERVING PLATTER
A superb 'green turned' Garry Oak serving platter. It is hand turned on Vancouver Island from locally grown wood by Phil Cottell.
Food safe. Use for serving cheese & crackers, cakes, dips, fruit etc or just for show.
Diameter 15 inches by 3 inches high - with a small pedestal foot.
Garry oak or Quercus garryana
An attractive tree with thick, grooved, scaly, greyish-black bark and a round spreading crown; grows up to 20 metres tall.It grows in southeastern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, with some isolated groups of trees in the lower Fraser Valley.Garry oak was named by botanist and explorer David Douglas for Nicholas Garry of the Hudson's Bay Company, who helped him during his travels.
