GARRY OAK WOOD SERVING PLATTER
Well crafted and useful serving platters, made on Vancouver Island by Detlef Grundmann from locally grown Garry Oak wood with a lovely grain. Each platter is beautifully finished with 4 feet on the base measuring 5/8 inches x 2 inches. Use for serving hors d'ouevres, sushi, bread, cheese, cold meats etc.
Length~ 17 inches. Width at widest~ 71/2 inches by 1 inch thick. Foodsafe.
Well cared for this board should last a lifetime. The platter is finished with mineral oil & beeswax. foodsafe. Wipe with a damp cloth after use. Dish soap may be used but do not immerse in water or put in the dishwasher.
Garry Oak or Quercus garryana was named by botanist and explorer David Douglas for Nicholas Garry of the Hudson's Bay Company, who helped him during his travels. Quercus is the Latin name for "oak.
