Feather PaintingsBOBBIE MOMSEN
Raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bobbie grew up in a home surrounded by exotic pet birds - an Amazon parrot, a toucan, several finches, budgies and canaries. Collecting the colourful feathers was one of her favourite childhood hobbies. After many years in Calgary, she and her husband retired to Sooke, B.C., where her love for birds - this time in the wild - was rekindled. In 1998 she did her first feather painting, a tiny lighthouse, and she was thrilled when it sold within a few minutes of being displayed. But feathers seemed to demand birds on them - if a feather could not be restored to the bird, a bird should be restored to the feather.
