Award winning glass bead artist Monique Da Silva, creates uniquely crafted jewelry. Her careful attention to detail and form comes from years of individual study and classical training.
Monique was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She started her jewelry business at the age of 16. The Da Silva family spent most summers at their cabin in Princeton, BC. The beautiful surrounding countryside and colorful history of this small town inspired Monique to ever expand her pallet and creativity.
At age 21, Monique learned how to make stained glass. Having many scraps of glass left over from her projects, she learned how to turn them into glass beads. After making her second bead, Monique had found her medium!
Glass has become a way of life for Monique. “There is always something new and different to explore with glass.”
Color is a major part of her process. “I have so many colours to work with—I can match virtually any request a client may have.”
Monique’s work has been published both in books and calendars. She has her work in Side Street Studio Oak Bay, Vancouver’s Granville Island, Kelowna, Banff, Whistler and Winnipeg. Monique lives in Kelowna B.C.
“Glass is a lot like life,” says Monique; “always changing, always learning, always a work in progress.”
