CHRISTINA HILBORNE

Christina Hilborne has been designing contemporary sustainable furniture on Canada’s beautiful West Coast for over twenty years. She has recently created a collection of jewellery.

 “I found myself really drawn to jewellery – it felt so much more intimate than furniture, I felt much more connected to the wearer.  And as I get older I find myself more and more in awe of women, the amazing women I’m blessed to have in my life. Some of them have done big, loud, remarkable things; some have done small quiet remarkable things. I’ve witnessed their courage, their lioness-ness (yes that’s a word) and been humbled time and again. Yet half the time - more than half the time – they’re unaware of their courage, feel more like a helpless kitten than a lioness. So I decided I would remind them. Or rather help them remind themselves. By wearing one of my simple wooden pendants at the throat, amazing women can whisper the secret words engraved on the back to themselves when they’re feeling perhaps not so amazing.  Or maybe they can whisper them to someone else. This collection is a thank you to the women in my life – to all women – and an effort to give back a fraction of what they’ve given me.
