Cornucopia Glass

Mark & Jane Bateman have been making glass pieces, like the items you see before you, since they arrived in Victoria in 1978.

Each sculpture is crafted by Mark from high-fire borosilicate glass, in an open flame of propane and oxygen.
The technique is variously known as Flame-working or Lamp-working; an ancient art form, practised by many cultures for thousands of years Jane puts the finishing touches on each figurine to prepare them for final display.

In 2017 son, Adam, joined the family business. He is making distinctive glass pendants but also has a flair for up-cycling metals and making very wearable, organic jewellery from Sterling Silver and Copper.

For over 40 years Mark has been in Victoria, flame working figurines from high-fire borosilicate glass. Jane has worked alongside, preparing each piece for presentation to the customers. Their son, Adam, has now joined Mark at the torch and adds his own unique style to the glass work.
